Almost There....

I passed 44,000 words today! Less than 6,000 to go, and then this year's madness will be at an end. To celebrate, I posted a new snippet and treated myself to some hot chocolate with a candy cane in it.

I finished another story yesterday, and started a new one. Here's a list of the stories I've finished so far:

• "Walk a Crooked Mile" (8,350)
• "The Better Part of Valor" (10,000)
• "No Song Unsung" (14,000)

I'm still working on:

• "Ships That Pass" (6,536 so far)
  
• "Shattered" (2,467 so far)

If you're doing the math and scratching your head because that doesn't add up to 44,000 words, well, I'm also counting some random bits of silly stories that may never see the light of day. And I did start working on another story one day when I simply couldn't get anywhere on these, but I've since abandoned it, so while I'm still counting those words, I'm not including the story here.

It's kind of funny -- I've had the basic idea for "Shattered" for months, maybe a year, but I only just started it yesterday. And I got the idea for STP before NSU or TBPoV, but I'm totally stuck on it and haven't written more than a paragraph or two on it in over a week. The easiest story so far was WaCM, which I got the idea for while watching an episode of "Rawhide" and which switched protagonists right before I started writing it. And it's turned out the coolest, I think -- I'll probably be able to spiff it up pretty quickly and might even be able to post it on Fruit Salad before the end of the year. We'll see!
